Made using the fruit of the tamarind tree. The fruit comes in pods from which a fibrous pulp is extracted. The taste is sour, similar to lemon juice, and just like for lemon juice, the perfect portion of sugar needs to be added to get a perfectly balanced drink, along with a pinch of salt for perfection.
Benefits: mild laxative (an ancient tradition in India), it is rich in vitamin C, vitamin B, carotenes, antioxidants and minerals like potassium and magnesium. Good for liver and kidneys.
